MCG Youth Ceramics Students Dive into Figurative Sculpture

This winter trimester, MCG Youth ceramics students are immersing themselves in figurative sculpture in Bryce Hemington's Figure It Out course. Using a coil building method with special sculptural clay, students are encouraged to explore human and humanoid forms, resulting in unique, medium to large-scale artworks. This hands-on experience fosters creativity and self-expression, allowing each student to craft their own interpretation of the humanoid theme.

In addition to sculpting, students will enhance their pieces with underglaze, adding vibrant colors and textures. Inspired by ceramics sculptor Kensuke Yamada, the course enriches their artistic skills and techniques. We can’t wait to see the students’ distinct finished sculptures at the end of this trimester!
